Common tyre pressures
A quick reference for popular cold tyre pressures between 1.5 and 3.5 bar. Always confirm the correct pressure for your vehicle from its placard or handbook.
| bar | PSI | kPa |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 | 21.8 | 150 |
| 1.8 | 26.1 | 180 |
| 2.0 | 29 | 200 |
| 2.2 | 31.9 | 220 |
| 2.3 | 33.4 | 230 |
| 2.5 | 36.3 | 250 |
| 2.8 | 40.6 | 280 |
| 3.0 | 43.5 | 300 |
| 3.2 | 46.4 | 320 |
| 3.5 | 50.8 | 350 |
How this converter works
The tool converts between three pressure units. Enter one value and choose its unit; the calculator works out the equivalent in the other two.
1 PSI = 6.894757293168 kPa
bar = kPa ÷ 100
PSI = kPa ÷ 6.894757293168
Worked example: 2.2 bar × 100 = 220 kPa, then 220 ÷ 6.894757293168 = 31.91 PSI.
Finding the right tyre pressure
This tool only converts pressure units — it does not recommend a pressure. The correct cold tyre pressure for your car is printed on a placard, usually found on the driver’s door jamb, inside the fuel filler flap, or in the owner’s handbook. Stick to that figure and check pressures when the tyres are cold for the most accurate reading.
